H&R Block Canada
H&R Block is the most popular brand name in tax preparing. However, at Tax Prep 101 we advise that you should not assume they are the best service for you. Consider a few factors before you decide the tax preparer or tax preparation method best for you.H&R Block has a number of services that are quite attractive. They provide fast, easy tax preparation with a simple interview process. In a face-to-face interview with an H&R Block representative you will be asked simple interview questions and get quick advice to help you file the return which best suits your needs.
H&R Block is also very accessible. You can simply walk into any office and wait for an available representative. As long as you have all your paper work you can begin filling out your tax return.
There are wonderful conveniences to filing with H&R Block and they can take a lot of the headache out of filing your Canadian tax return.
CGAs and other professionals are fully trained in taxes. H&R Block representatives are not required to be fully trained in Canadian tax law. Often, H&R Block tax interviewers have only taken one or two courses. In fact, this is one reason why representatives are so easily available.
There have been a number of consumer complaints (some from experienced tax filers) that H&R Block Tax Interviewers do not catch all the tax deductions available for you. In some cases it could add up to a significantly larger refund.
If you have a complex tax form, and you want to use H&R Block, Tax Prep 101 urges you to ask your interviewer about his or her qualifications. If you want your return filled out by someone who really knows their tax laws, tax shelters and other tax refund information we recommend you go to a professional.
