VisualTax is a product of the Mississauga, Ontario company, Microsophic Inc. This company, founded in 1985, has always specialized in professional tax software and tax services. VisualTax is part of a Microsophic's comprehensive suite of financial software.

Navigation and User friendliness: 7.5
Compared to other Canadian professional software such as TaxByte and CanTax, VisualTax is acclaimed to be far easier to use. However, the interface looks very much like old Windows interfaces without any contemporary icons. VisualTax offers a collection of screen previews available on its web site if you want to see for yourself.

It actively monitors your input, comparing your returns to last year's forms, detecting omissions and problems labeling them as "mandatory data," "serious errors," or merely giving a "warning" for smaller errors. With many different packages and options, prices do vary. Some basic rates:

A T1 basic package, limited to 50 returns, is $119.
A T1 standard singe-user package with unlimited returns, is $199. This product features Efile.
A T1 multi-user package with unlimited returns is $399. This product features Efile On-line Plus, Super Audit/Verification, Super Entry, promotional letters, Tax Data Base analysis, tax planner, Daily Cash reports, VisualTax TR (Tax Research engine) and many other features.
